Cady Finlayson
As a performer, Cady is best known for her Spirited Celtic fiddling which she has brought to 38 states and Ireland, performing at venues including Carnegie Hall, Caramoor and the McPherson Scottish Festival. She performs as a duo with French guitarist Vita Tanga and her five cds have attracted listeners from Australia to Japan.
In 2022 Cady Finlayson was awarded a grant from the Brooklyn Arts Council for her multimedia performance, The Quiet Light Project. The project celebrated people in the community and included musical performances, video and dance. Cady’s classical background includes a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Mannes School of Music- The New School and three years with the yearlong Carnegie Hall Music Educators Workshop that focuses on ensemble leadership, pedagogy and musical creativity. She taught violin and group string classes for 19 years at the United Nations International School and later worked with the Overture Ensemble as part of the Youth Orchestras of Essex County (YOEC). Cady went back to school in 2018 for a degree in Video Arts and has continued to combine music and media in her projects. awards Ms. Finlayson was recently appointed the conductor for the New York Young Musicians Ensemble (NYME) in Mineola, NY.
